huge slam on anteaters out of nowhere!

Fffffff why am I still stressed out on break. I have to clean my room--my room which is FULL OF MOVING BOXES AND NO FURNITURE--because Christmas is at our house this year. And hanging out with friends? Yeah... I'm sick. It kinda sucks. And I don't think the New Orleans trip is happening... =C Which I am super sad about because I bought this awesome tuxedo jacket for New Year's, and now I can't wear it! Ugghhhhh sometimes I hate Ohio as much as all my high school friends did.

Yeah... idk. This is going to be one hell of a break.

Let's see though. Friday we went to the TSO concert, it was... good. But not great. Here's the thing. TSO has a new album out called Nightcastle... Which is more like a "halloween" album. It's classical music (Carmina Burana was awesome) but they spent the whole second half of the show with gargoyles, flames, and lightning... Not very Christmasy. So that kind of sucked. (Not to mention my ears were practically bleeding by the end.)

Saturday I went lasertagging for three hours in Cincy with Kim and Melissa. It was super awesome. =) My second-to-last game I got second place! HURRAH. After that I drove back up to Fairborn for the Brandstetter's party where I told Pat and Kevin and Lara about the 3hrs for $15 lasertagging and we are going to Suit Up and go down there. It's going to be epic. Yeah... nothing else really happened at the Brandstetter's party though, except I think I managed to get Lara's cold.

So yeah, now I'm kinda sick. Sunday I was unable to walk because apparently all the lasertag ramps killed my quad? IDFK. And also I was sick. Hypersensitivity is the worst.

Yesterday was crazy... Dental cleaning, Laura got her wisdom teeth out, had to take grandma to the hospital to get her leg checked, and then I went to Johnny's house to watch MST3K where it turns out here and his sister had made baseball-sized buckeyes. deeeaaaaamn

Yeah, so. Today the cats went to the vet... They gained wait. Ugh. Time to put them on a diet.

Yep... that is my break so far. CHAOS.

it's saturday!

It's not Saturday, but we fucking hyped the shit out of that this summer. TO THE POINT OF SUCCESS

Anyway, first off I want to apologize for the stuff still not in the mail... The person who was supposed to get it there for me failed miserably while I was gone. They will be there ASAP!

That being said, I had a fucking awesome summer and we made goddamn history. First Finals in 23 years and we got a standing ovation before we even went on. You know who gets those? Alumni corps. Not your everyday corps, that's for damn sure. So for all the people in top scoring spots with your precious little egos, I don't hate you (I do dislike your bandos, though), but I am completely, over-the-top satisfied--maybe even overjoyed--knowing that I had a more fun summer than you. So maybe we're not the best, we've still got more heart, and that's why I came there in the first place.

Yes, once again, drum corps turned me into a foul-mouthed bitch (again), but FUCK if it ain't beautiful being the Golden Child, for once. As someone else put it, it's hard to beat Mother Theresa at her own game.

And that's why I fucking love drum corps, y'all.

Now that being said, I miss the donk of the bus hard core already :C and I don't want to be doing leadership stuff for band and I forgot how much I hate "real life" and because of that I plan on being my bitchy, sailor-mouthed self as long as possible. I don't give a fuck anymore, because I have some of the best friends on the planet from this summer. <3

Not that I don't love you all, I just enjoy being able to avoid 95% of life's idiots for extended periods of time.

Aaaaaand I miss the donk of the bus. We're responsible assholes and I miiiiissss theeeeeemmmm

P.S. I have probably a week's worth of reading to catch up on, so don't expect to see me around much for the next few days.

stuff

Well, all in all, a very good weekend. Also, I must admit, I am very lucky to have my parents as my parents, because they buy me nice bike stuff when I need it. Found a spring rain jacket and dad found the PERFECT sized messenger-bag purse at Pearl Street Mall yesterday, one of which is appleish green and the other bright yellow. And both waterproof. :D Plus we found this awesome bike store called University Bikes and they have EVERYTHING. Including several-hundred-dollar mock-vintage jerseys that I would kill to own.

Anyway, some quick links.

For the record, I do hate Comic Sans. A lot.

BIG FISH TRIVIA! I love this movie so much, it's just such an excellent movie if you are at all one of those people who daydreams the most random shit. =) But it's also kind of sad for me now, too, because it was only the second time we watched it (mom and I, I mean) that we watched it with Nana before she died. =S And, I mean, I cry watching the Lion King, ffs.

Let's talk about jeans. I, for the record, love pants. However, I lament the fact that jeans are more fashion-quality these days than actual heavy-duty, and THEY ALWAYS RIP ON ME IN THE SAME PLACE BEFORE I ACTUALLY WEAR THEM OUT. Efffff youuuuuu.

On a more serious note: I love retro fashion. I'm also extremely practical. So yes, I know when to dress up, and I know how, and it kills me to see people going to the symphony in jeans. However, day-to-day stuff? Who really cares? Work isn't about fashion unless you work in the fashion industry. Dressing up nice for interviews and stuff, that is sensible; wearing a dress suit to everything? Not so much. Then again, I should also say I wish guys dressed up more for dances. Shirt + tie doesn't really cut it, for me. BUUUUUUUUUUUT then again I kinda dgaf because I only dress up when I have to/want to. There's no daily in between for me because 1) I frigging love costuming too much, so "dress up" for me is basically retro-costuming, and 2) my fashion is one of comfort. Let's see, biker-bag purse and running-jacket spring jacket? (Also, new laceless chucks, yay?) Yeah, that's more me.

See also: move to Hawaii, compleeeeete comfort. Mmmm.

So it's like a mini-vacation.

Let's see, today we got up early because we're on east coast time, and we went out to Rocky Mountain National Park to see if we could hike, but we couldn't because the snow was about three feet deep, maybe more, so we built a snowman and had a snowball fight. And also made the two feet of snow on the roof of the little shelter fall off like mini-avalanches. That was fun.

Aaaaaand pretty much the only other thing we've done all day is watch the Star Wars marathon on Spike. WOO

So they want the guy who wrote Pooh's Heffalump Movie to write the Wanted sequel. First of all, it can't be that good. Second of all, HE EFFING RUINED HEFFALUMPS. THEY AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ANYTHING. So that guy can diaf as far as I'm concerned.

Uh, no more tuna by 2012? I'm fucked. I live on that stuff.

Al Capone's prison cell, holy crap.

A new fake name game, this time your NPR name. For the life of me I have no idea what the name of the smallest foreign town I've been to would be. Poland was TEN YEARS AGO HOLY SHIT.

So, clearly I am not at camp, because I am on a computer.

So we flew out to Denver. We rented the car. We're on our way to WalMart to buy a black towel for rehearsal when we get the call... Camp has been cancelled due to weather. They can't get the truck down from Casper because the roads to Wyoming are closed. Soooo we're stuck in Denver.

Dad tried to switch the flights to come home tomorrow, but we'd be losing a lot of money. So, still not getting home until midnight Sunday. =/ It's wet and miserable here, and I'm currently missing: all my Southwind friends who will be at WGI in Dayton, Guster at UD, senior sendoff weekend, relay for life, and about five other things. I am SO PISSED.

Can't go skiing here because 1) I don't have any gear (all shorts for practice) and 2) I don't need to risk fucking up my knee.

So... today we ate at Waffle House for breakfast, sludged to WalMart, went window shopping in Fort Collins, and played about two hours of Euchre, if not not three. Maybe tomorrow we'll see a movie, I dunno, I'm totally fucking bored. Well, not so much bored as pissed I didn't bring my own computer (this is my cousin Max's because he's here, and he's on spring break so we are hanging out with him) and there's nothing much to do and I AM MISSING LIKE 20 THINGS IN DAYTON THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO. GOOOODDDDAAAAAMNNNIIIIIT.

Also, the whole epic is kind of on Twitter if you're curious to see it in semi real-time reactions.

Since we went to Waffle House this morning, I think this is my end of the curse, and I would say it's definitely the worst. GODDAMNIT WHY DOES THE WEATHER HERE HAVE TO BE SO BAD BUT SO NICE IN DAYTON. GODDAMNIT

Um, yeah. This blows.

However, I did see the most attractive Taco Bell I've ever seen, built into some old building.

Anyone know shit to do in Fort Collins? Cuuuuuz we really aren't getting anywhere out of here.

oh god, what spring break

Yeah, to hell with all this snow. Even if it is melting on the ground... I have no will to go outside, and it kinda sucks because I can't even sleep in, my body is so hammered into the GET UP AT EIIIIIGGGHHHHT schedule. Dammit.

Buh, I haven't even got much done on my computer because I found a 232-page thread of stupid pictures. X| Sooo here are a bunch of links that are the result of that.

I can tell you one thing; Hitler may have had a terrible concept of what was structurally possible (seriously, man, have you heard of foundations), but he did have a fantastic concept of what is epic.

This site is hilarious; the guy depicts different emotions, from normal to incredibly specific and bizarre.

This comic is like the new Perry Bible Fellowship, except I am not exactly sure I understand this newest one so much.

How is this a real story?! It's not even recent enough to be an April Fool's joke.

A hilarious video from a third-year art student, showcasing all the awesome skills he learned in an animations art class. If you actually want a listenable loop of that, you can find one here. It's almost Popcorn.

Vader loves Christmas: a hilarious and clever edit if I do say so myself.

I was talking to one of y'all about 3d modeling or robots or some shit the other day, I know I was. And I couldn't come up with the term "uncanny valley", so there you go.

Holy shit Hawaiian yodeling. I've always wondered how close yodeling is to singing, even if only because I have no problem singing the Goatherd song from Sound of Music.

Voytek the soldier bear, fuck yeah Poland!

Also, a retro graphics archive. Mostly 50's-ish, I'd think, style-wise.

The Pain in Spain Falls Mainly on the Plane

Yeah, so, an ear infection would definitely be causing the pain I get every time I yawn. That makes sense. Now for it to go away...

Unfortunately I wonder if this is my fault for not finishing the penicillin for my sinus infection; if so, I feel really bad because I feel like there might have been room for it to build up a resistance? I sure hope not. Anyway, this just proves that sinus infections suck ass. I was sick from pretty much halfway through November until now. How it went, and how it usually goes is, pain first (I had two or so weeks of painful headaches/mini-migraines, and wanting to drink lots of caffiene so they'd go away), then the sinus pressure goes away and I got the "sick" part of it, aka the coughing, hacking, wheezing, running nose, et cetera. Well, the coughing is mostly gone (yay inhaler--with counter) and my nose is still running like a madman. And my ears were a bit sensitive to pressure changes on the flights last weekend, but I assumed it was just because my nasal cavity was all blocked up... Which I'm guessing, no, it was just aggravating the sinus infection that spread to my ear. FANtastic. Though whether the infection was just dogged on by the flights and the weather out in Wyoming, I don't know, but I sure as hell know now that my ear is unadjusted and popping every time I yawn and it HURTS LIKE FUCK.

You know, I think the last time I got an ear infection was second grade or so. Huh. (Laura used to get them all the time in grade school, and I used to get strep throat all the time. Then one year, we both randomly got the other around the same time. Weird.)

Well, now that I'm done with that, OH MY GOD MY DAD BOUGHT A PICCOLO TRUMPET :D Seriously, I am excited. I do not even have a reason to play it (until Christmas mass next year, possibly). But I mean--A PIC! Damn I am excited.

I have some links but currently I am not in the mood to post them. Fmeh.

Oh, the good news as well is that I will probably be doing some trivia games on Tuesdays when we don't have Girl Scouts, because exec board got moved to Wednesday--so feel free to hit me up with all the useless trivia you can muster. (Or just your favorites, doesn't matter much to me.)

[EDIT] Added title. I need to remember to do that more often. I used to be in a fairly good habit of it and suddenly, somehow, I've fallen out of it. I figure I can add that to my list of resolutions along with "sleep in less often". Particularly since I have no 8 ams anymore. (YAY) Oh, and the title refers to the last time I had tons of sinus pain and had to flew, which was on the way back from Spain. I pretty much got no sleep because my ears were KILLING ME. But I think that was just a sinus infection and not an ear infection, as I don't remember having all these ear problems, just a cold.

drum and buggles

I am not ready at all for school. Packing up for corps I just realized this... I have Christmas stuff everywhere. I'm not moved in, I needed the time to relax so I still have stuff to move and then I still have to redo my room. Plus recruitment. Plus girl scouts. Plus the Minardi's project. Plus James' tattoo which was his birthday/Christmas present. Plus all the other art I owe people. (Hopefully... I can get that done this weekend, or rather, TOMORROW, while I sit by myself in the Denver airport for FIVE HOURS.)

Maybe I shoudl only take those 15 credits and not try to cram another class in there. That way I can focus on all this stuff, anc corps, and maybe looking at grad schools. *sigh* I hate "wasting" those credits, but maybe it would be good to have that space. Maybe I could join the drama club and help with props, I don't know.

Ugh. Kind of nervous about tomorrow because I should have been practicing, should have been working out. Should have been so many things... But mostly I am just stressed about school. I need a longer break, that's just the way I work. I need mental recuperation time.

Not to mention I barely got to see my friends at all, and a bunch of them are getting together tomorrow to hang out and catch up--and of course I will be in an airport for most of the day. And not even during a time when I can call them and chat over the phone while they are together... =/

[Error: unknown template qotd]Well, uh, it was the summer and not the holidays, but we hit the airport flying out of Alaska (Gustavus?). Yes, we hit the airport. It was a tiny little two-strip runway with one main building (Delta and Alaska Airlines, or something like that--anyway, probably smaller than your average post office building) and a few shacks from small plane owners who flew for hunting trips and tours and that sort of thing. So anyway, we're on this medium-sized plane, backing out to fly out. (Oh, it was small enough you still got on the plane from a set of stairs on the runway... That was cool.) And I guess the pilot just wasn't paying attention, because the guy on the left wing was waving like mad, a lot of people on the plane were yelling (except mom and dad because they figured the pilot couldn't hear us through the door). Grandma and Grandpa were flipping the fuck out, let me tell you. Max and Kyle and Laura and I were just kind of bemused.

So anyway, the guy keeps going and clips a beam of the building with the tip of the wing. He broke probably a foot off the end of the wing and broke a good four or six foot section off the beam of the building. And it was one of those big, square beams, too, probably 1'x1' or 2'x2' or something like that. I don't remember exactly.

Anyway, so then we all had to unload, and we would have had to wait forever for them to get another plane in there, and Uncle Steve was desperate to get back because we had 50 pounds of frigging halibut in our luggage that was going to go bad. So we all marched our stuff over to one of the tiny shacks to see if the guy could fly us out to a larger airport, and we were going to have to leave some of the luggage behind because you only have so much weight per passenger (and we would be taking two small planes for the ten of us as it was), and I was incredibly pissed off because mom and dad and Uncle Steve were going to make me leave my bag here and take their fish for my weight instead. (And by this time, two weeks in Alaska, I was absolutely disgusted with halibut. And I haven't really eaten any since, either.) But eventually they got a plane that had been slightly larger than the one we crashed to some to that airport rather than going straight back to the continental US, (it was slightly out of the way, maybe flying out of Juneau or something? I can't remember) and we were all able to get on there and end up in Chicago or something, I don't remember exactly.

Anyway, that's the story of how we crashed a plane into an airport.
