I was thinking about something along these lines just the other day. The movie "Head of State" was on Sunday, which is a comedy with Chris Rock about him running and winning the 2004 Election. (It's a bit like what I expected Man of the Year to be... That was a weird movie.) It's a bit strange watching it because there's a lot of talk about how Chris Rock's character is a political newbie and a representative for black culture (whether he likes it or not), both of which have been touched upon in this election.
But I think the strangest part for me is that he is running against this bull-headed old white guy who takes no shame in being over the top; saying what he wants to say (and saying only that, despite questions from the crowd) and tuning everyone out with patriotic music and repeatedly saying the completely inane slogan "God Bless the USA and nobody else." I mean this character even uses it during the debate!
And you have to think about how unbelievable that character might be, and that is the exact same sort of thought I have about Palin. She and McCain drive me nuts with every time they honestly try to use the word "maverick", not to mention all her "hockey-mom" and "joe-six-pack" crap. (What does Joe-six-pack even mean? I mean, what is it supposed to imply? I take both pride and fear in the fact that I don't understand what she's saying.)
Anyway, some more from the good Palin:
