Ugh, I am not in a good mood. I'm looking at audition stuff for different corps... I was kind of thinking about Crown but here is the problem; I find it compeltely insulting that they HOLD AUDITIONS FOR FOUR MONTHS. And they get at least $100 out of you for every camp! I understand that camp fees go to food and the housing and stuff, but I find that to be completely ridiculous. FOUR MONTHS. Plus I am not so big on corps that take alternates... I think that's rather insulting, too. See, those are the kind of things I don't like about Crown and the more popular corps; they may have good shows but they don't seem to be very familial, even though everyone ends up "like a family" at the end of the summer (that's just drum corps).
Argh. I don't know what to do; just give up and go to Troopers because they'd be fun? I am just afraid that I'm going to be frustrated if they have a pretty young group, and honestly... having a guard that is not that good rather bothers me. I'm not looking for perfection but when you are not such a large corps and you kind of take what you can get... Generally not so good for the guard.
It's just so hard to find that balance between competitive *enough* and still about having fun, and it's why I'm so frustrated.
Colts looks like it might be a good choice, but I can't off the top of my head name any part of their recent shows (although I think at finals this year I was paying attention to the fact that they had visuals I liked).
And I need to make a choice soon... Goddamnit. This is really starting to piss me off. =/ I really wish Southwind were fielding this year. :C (Especially since next year if they come back, they can't be Division I.)
Troopers or Colts? Troopers or Colts...
