So last night at retreat when they played America, there were some serious screamers, going ALL out of tune, and I'm pretty sure purposefully. I assumed it was the Cavvies because they had been mocking BD as they marched on (in a friendly way, just doing the line-balancing thing, because I know for a fact they are always laid back about shit), but I've seen a lot of comments that it was BD because they were pissed that Phantom won. If it was BD, I wouldn't be surprised if they were just screwing around, but apparently they're kind of notorious for being assholes? Which brings a lot of shit to light, and if it's true I've lost a lot of respect for them. (Well, "a lot" is not very accurate, I've never particularly liked them other than Summertrain Blues. But I respected their technique because of Jeremy.)
I was going to ask Kyle anyway if it was just them dicking around, but I figure now it's the closest I'll get to an accurate answer (unless I suddenly befriend a BD member) about that sitch. Still wouldn't be surprised if it was just Cavvies, they were really cool about everything. (Only corps I saw congratulating Phantom as they left.) And it wasn't just random screamers from each corps, it was coming from the Cavvies/BD area.
But YAY Marie and Peter! I am so happy for them. =D Now if only I can figure out what's going to happen with next season for me. Ugh.
Found this on DCP, it's absolutely hilarious:
"Allentown this year:
"where are you going the Cadets are coming on?"
"I'm going to pursue happiness by not watching it"
and, no, it wasn't me saying it"
LOL. I'm sad no one yelled anything hilarious at finals for the Cadets (like perfect man = George? or something) and I was surprised they took out the lines about having all those boyfriends (changed to "breaking a lot of hearts") and completely removed the part about breast cancer. My question: she says, at the birth of her granddaughter, looking around and seing her granddaughter, her daughter, herself, and her husband... what about the daughters husband? Ouch.
I still feel kind of sorry for the two kids who had to be the actors the whole time. Congrats! You're going to march drum corps. But not really.
[EDIT] So you can tell this is my first time on DCP (I was trying to find more info on the BD sitch). People seriously think Phantom was "too violent".
Excuse me? You're watching drum corps. This is LIVE PERFORMANCE ART with no blood and guts WHATSOEVER (not including symbolism forchristsakes). If you think this is violence then you need to get your nose broken or get in a fistfight or something.
I'll bet you're the kind of person who thinks Cookie Monster changing to fruits and veggies was completely sensible, too.
