ooh that is cool. I got the impression that it wouldn't wake your roommates up (except maybe the beep?). You hear the music through the vibrations.

Yup, the vibrations reach your ear through your skull bones. There are ideas floating around to eventually miniaturize cell phones into a chip implanted in a tooth, which would work the same way.
