I went out to see Batman again with Johnny last night. MattE was supposed to come along from the airshow but we got up there too late and then he had to babysit his neighbor.

I probably should have waited longer before seeing the movie again; remembering all the twists and lines definitely makes it less emotional, which makes it a challenge because the whole movie is an emotional high. And without that, it can be hard to follow the story. But you do get to notice a lot of the little details more.

Johnny and I were arguing though, the disappearing pencil trick; I think it goes into the guy's eye socket, Johnny thought he used the guy's head as a hammer and knocked it into the table. Thoughts?

But christ, this movie is so fucking thought-provoking and poetic, and I think that's what makes it so awesome. With Dent, you realize he's the white knight who makes his own luck, and when he becomes Two-Face, he's so upset that he couldn't save Rachel, and he stops making his own luck. He actually gives in to chance. Before he had the two-headed coin, which was great foreshadowing... But after Rachel dies, there are actually two sides; the light side, and the dark side. And you see why Batman got shot, why he didn't shoot himself, and why he wasn't going to shoot the boy (presuming the coin landed same side up in his hand versus the floor). But damn.

And really, I just love the Joker. Like I said, misplaced sense of questioning The Man, but other than Batman he is probably my favorite character. You can tell he's an artist, which maybe is why I like him, though I don't agree with his medium, obviously.

Plus I think it helps I have a morbid sense of humor...
