So I'm going to bed but I thought I might post this because Johnny and I were discussing it somewhat on IM. I've been considering posting it to my private journal, but here you, in a fit of tiredness I'm posting in the open. =P Not that it's that important! Lol.
So... y'all probably know I don't take to compliments all too often. I mean, thre's the whole Kevin and Pat calling me hot to piss me off or something, but that's slightly a different matter but it originated for the same reason. I don't know if this is compeltely true, as I am not giving it a terrible amount of thought or anything, but I think I've always believed this, sort of, but it's more an intrinsic thing than a "THIS IS TRUE, YOU MUST CONFORM AND BELIEVE IT" type thing. I just don't like... shallow compliments.
I mean, now that I think about it, this probably is a part of the whole thing where guys piss me off, but we are in no way getting into that right now. I just don't like people saying "You're hot," or anything like that. It's... tacky. I guess. Think with your brain, not with your genitals. Or something.
I mean "Wow, that dress you made is really nice," yes. That's ok. Something I did, something I care about. Do I look like I try to dress up or wear makeup or care? In general I don't. It's just... a shallow compliment. Think deeper, show me you're trying, if you are. I mean, that's what compliments are, right?
I don't know where I'm going with this. Anyway, that's all I can get out of what I know, which is I don't like physical compliments. =D Different values, I guess. It at least makes it easy to weed out people with certain values... a handy tool for my paranoia, to be sure. =P
