Shit shit shit shit, so my Firefox History doesn't go back as far as I need it to (about three weeks), so I'm missing a lot of links I've been looking for. Shitcakes. Also, Yahoo's stories disappear in about two weeks, so I need to go back through my linkspams and edit some for clarity, so I know what the link was. Grr. Or add the text of the article if it's still extant.

So here's cleaning up some more stuff:

So this guy died sort of recently, but what he did was for a college art project. He used tarps to alter the words of the "HOLLYWOOD" sign, and I think they are pretty damn clever. http://www.hollyweed.net/

Some important holidays (which I missed...):
January 31-- National Gorilla Suit Day
February 2-- Groundhog Day, duh. Apparently we're getting an early spring?
February 3-- The Day the Music Died...48 years ago! Damn.
April 16-- International Fort Building Day (I have my plans... got yours?)
October 9-- National Leif Ericson Day (I think this calls for pirattitude.)

I was waxing poetic on our Mullet Game (which I am uninclined to hunt through my archives for... maybe someday, when LJ gets a search engine up, or I get my tag system goin'), which involved choosing a Book, Movie, or Show Title and replacing one word with the word "mullet"; someone recommeded to me, this: The Top Lines in Star Wars Improved by Replacing One Word With the Word "Pants". WIN.

This baby is going to be mine. If you go to their main page it shows some "action shots" and whatnot. Anyway, camera geek <3...

So, found a cool site with movie props. Found some stuff from Indiana Jones, nothing fantastically interesting though. It's more fun to go nuts on Ebay. =P (And by go nuts I mean... spend an hour looking at all the cool stuff.) Anyway, just reminds me of the sword we saw in Disney from Last Crusade, which was pretty cool, but still kind of ridiculous. (Price-wise... I mean, not THAT interesting of a prop, if you ask me...) http://www.propstore.com/

The Pizza Theorem. It should be part of every math class. First part is useful, second part is hilarious. http://mathworld.wolfram.com/PizzaTheorem.html

Have I ever mentioned before how creepy rabbits can be? That is, if you make them ALMOST rabbits, in a very creepy fashion. Not like these, these are more funny, but still. http://www.morbidtendencies.com/botmc-details.html

website for finding songs stuck in your head )

Um, so, I think that's everything for now, but I have tons to do in the realms of going through old posts clicking through links and whatnot. ESPECIALLY since I have to fix a corrupted file from firefox, which should fix my Bookmarks and Toolbar problems I'm having. Grr.

So... does anyone know if there is a way to check your history further than the folders provided? I need to get back at some pages from a few weeks ago, and I'm not sure it has them anymore.

In order to clean up the stuff I have on my desktop (dear lord... it's shitloads of stuff), here's a little linkspam:

Disney's having a pirate MMPORPG... pretty sweet. However, I have the feeling I won't have any time for it, not to mention the fact that it comes out the same day as the movie, which happens to also be the day I'm leaving for corps for the summer, so... yeah. I'll probably pop on a few times, but I'm going to keep on costuming, mostly. Pirates, woo! POTC MMPORPG )

This is really sad because it reminds me of all the AWESOME street performers in San Francisco (holyshitthatwasalongtimeago) and in Spain. Where they only performed if you gave them money, and otherwise would be frozen (except that Mickey...). Obviously... we Americans are pretty stupid. Damnit. Chewbacca attacks! )

Fascinating! I love enginerding stuff like this. Yes, enginerding. It's my... adjective. I dunno. Engineering is already nerdy by default, but I guess this adjective is for moments where I geek out. a rubber sidewalk... )

This is just calling out to be a lame college game. =D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muggle_Quidditch

I am never one to ignore an article about the ocean! Please. This is pretty cool. the smell of the sea )

This reminds me of the place in South Dakota. It makes me sad how ignorant the people in the article are. It's an OPTICAL ILLUSION, folks. Not that hard, especially when science is on your side! Physics is wonderful! (Although they're still really fun...) death of a mystery )

Um... so more later as I go through all my links during chemistry lecture tomorrow. (Stupidest waste of my time, ever.)

Yeah, so, getting myself back into the groove and hooked on things I used to be hooked on. The News (have I posted yet?) that Indiana Jones IV starts filming in June made my day, and the fact that it's supposed to be coming out May 2008 rather than July (which would fall in the middle of marching season...), got me on an Indiana Jones spree. One of my favorite sites (www.theindyexperience.com) is shutting down, so I've been saving pages from that site. Then I was getting back into costuming stuff, and found some really cool fairy stuff.

Now, let's get this straight. There was a period when I liked fairies a lot, but it was never "OMG I must buy that tacky but fairy-related item!" that it seems every other teenage girl goes through. I do not like Amy Brown's fairies, and frankly I don't like a lot of the fairy stuff there is out there. But I found some stuff on more natural, weird, (and some flaming) fairies that simply made me happy. So poo on you, I'm still what I am.

It's like Josh made the point that I can't like something if it's too mainstream. It's not exactly true, it's just that a lot of mainstream tastes don't mesh with mine. About four years back islandy and natural stuff became popular fashion, and I loved it. Lots of turquoise. Only I didn't buy a lot of it, because it was fake and plastic and pretty shitty if you ask me. Like those plastic, large-beaded, long necklaces that are generally tied on ribbons and are kind of heart-shaped? Yeah, those are FAKE KUKUI NUT LEIS. As in, leis from Hawaii. Made of nuts. Plastic is so goddamn tacky.

Though I did justify me buying chucks. (I owned a pair when I was eight, in black, and before that I remember wearing Space Jam ones [yes I bought boy shoes, on several occasions], but as high tops they really hurt my ankles.)

So other news that's fit to blog...

I'm working on getting my website up and running (though I haven't bought a domain name-- I'm waiting until I am out of college or have a real job or can afford it in some manner), and also the webcomic. The only problem with that is getting some decent art software (Paint compresses like HELL, and sucks anyway), and also my new pen for my computer, which hasn't come yet.

Neither has my Dashing Hat shirt which I got for Christmas. *glee* =^n.n^= (I will finally own an Indiana Jones shirt! PLUS it's geeky b/c of QC! Most excellent.)

OH, and last Friday I went to the dentist. (For those of you not in the know, that would be my dad.) Aaaaand... I get to have my wisdom teeth taken out over Spring Break. So... boo on that. The only cool thing would be if I got to keep my teeth. And I know that probably grosses you out, but I guess somewhere deep inside me is that little tomboy I used to be, the one who saw Matt Foil's tonsils in his green jar in Kindergarten and thought it was AWESOME.

But you knew I was weird. I mean, my dad got me a magnet for Christmas that says "Being weird isn't enough." =D

I'm really tempted to post all the awesome stuff I got for Christmas, but it's pretty much a metric shit-ton of books. Which makes me happy. =^n.n^=

This is a really good post, I suggest you read it: http://community.livejournal.com/metaquotes/5752075.html

And btw, the title just came to me, has nothing to do with anything, and I couldn't think of anything better. So, meh.

Last day of year before the parties hit. I'm hoping for less shit next year, so we'll see how that goes. I really don't feel like talking about all the depressive shit that's going on so I'm going to say a few random things. Serious post coming later.

Finally, OMG! This makes me very happy. If they screw this up, though... ='(

Go see Night at the Museum. It's WONDERFUL. =D

[livejournal.com profile] cat_macros JOIN THIS COMMUNITY. It's made my day sooooo much better. Now I just need a cheap version of photoshop so I can make some of my own. Oh, and a new camera. Urrgh.

I don't want to go back to school. Or corps. Or work. *sigh*

I...er... yeah. (Don't like LJ's new update look, that's for sure.) I'm... confused. Had a weird dream last night that ended up in me having a creepy, no-good feeling all this morning while I was trying to study physics. It made me very distracted, but I still think I did pretty good on that test. If things hadn't been so weird lately, I could have studied a lot more and pwned it, but yeah, not gonna happen.

I just... ugh. SO weirded out by this feeling. It was sort of like when you drink too much caffiene and you're nervous-shaky, like I was last night and this morning and just all around creepy-outed-ness.

Hmm. Linkspam, I suppose. Sorry I don't make all the links nice and neat, but I like to have the url later on just for reference.

This is cool... the guy rode around the country (10,000 miles... pretty cool. Makes me miss the ride to Kitty Hawk we did) to raise money, so I thought I'd pimp this a little. http://8wishes.blogspot.com/

Sometimes, humans are idiots. We have managed to extinctify (?) a 20 million year-old species, the white whales of China. What, the article says there are... 13? left. Yeah. We're fucking GENIUSES here, folks. So long and thanks for all the fish. http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/12/13/china.dolphin.ap/index.html

Random really cool word time! I'm going to start collecting fun words in a notebook. Yeah, you look at me like I'm crazy, but... here's an example. The word calliope. I LOVE it. It's really pretty, musical (no pun intendid), kind of antiquey. Exotic. I dunno. I just like words. So I was looking up Scylla and Charybdis (the monster and the whirlpool in The Odyssey, and I always think Scylla is the whirlpool until I look it up, and also that's the origin of the phrase "between a rock and a hard place" because Scylla got turned into a cliff face) and I realized I LOVE Greek names. I already have loved the name Calliope for... hm... going on two years, that I've consciously known that. So, Scylla, Charybdis, Calliope. Randomly thinking of words ending like that, looked up Xerces, which is apparently a butterfly, so I was way off on that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xerces_Blue and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calliope and origins of "ard" http://community.livejournal.com/metaquotes/5701729.html

Aaaaand... heaven as a library: (seriously, join [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes) http://community.livejournal.com/metaquotes/5703946.html

err...December 12th was Edvard Munch's birthday (thank you, Google!). He apparently painted several versions of "The Scream." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edvard_munch

And, a very silly little thing about the incredibly anonymity of the internet; people are attacking it as Oedipal, but they are VERY clueless. (Dude, the kid didn't know it was his mom.) And if you're having trouble finding the links like I was, they're the highlighted words in that very brief summary. http://www.metafilter.com/mefi/56917 (ALSO, BEBO HAS DIGITAL WHITEBOARDS. That's probably the coolest, awesome-tastic feature I've seen on blogs yet. SHAWEET. [The rest of us just upload jpegs, lol. Geekery FTW])

Aaaaaand... speaking of really fun, antiquated words and such, this site has some really sweet shit. It's a perfume company, but man, do they kick ass. http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/

I think that's it. Gonna practice tomorrow for SW and run to the mall, and the thrift store, and the bookstore to find me some Douglas Adams. Mehbeh. Gotta pack up the room and hope it isn't pinkified... *sigh*

I am not in a good mood, again. I knew this would be all too temporary. This blows, soooo much. Wtf, wtf, wtf. Why can't things just WORK OUT ALREADY?!

So last night I completely forgot to post one thing. When I came in to babysit, they were watching Stuart Little 2 on the Disney Channel. What’s the first thing I do? “OMG…Mr. Little is HOUSE.” Seriously, guys, wtf. House…Mr. Little. House…Mr. Little. Bwuh?

Ok so I’m not as happy as I was last night, which makes me sad. (Not really, but you know what I mean.) *sigh* Life is so difficult.

Now is one of those times I wish I had an iPod. I am here at work and wishing I had my Christmas music to make me feel better to not be bored. Well, to not be bored. Since I ran some errands for my boss, but now he’s in a meeting and I don’t have anything to do, but I’m not leaving yet, because I need to get my hours in, and because hells yes I get paid to do nothing.

Jiminy Cricket.

You know, do you remember that xkcd cartoon about mixing levels of cursing? I do that, unintentionally. All the time. I’ve noticed I start of entries with freakin’ or fuck and then switch to the other towards the end. Plus I have really colorful curses. Jiminy Cricket, fuckcakes, shitcakes, Christ on a cracer.. yeah, it goes on and on. I just notice random curse words pop up into my vocabulary. Don’t ask me how, I don’t know either.

*sigh* Dammit, I want to be happy again, like I was last night! Arrrrrgh! Frustrating.

Ok, so yeah, I have a soft spot for innovation. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061206/ap_on_re_us/silly_string_to_iraq_1

And this sounds like a cool place to visit: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/06/world/asia/06budd.html?_r=1&pagewanted=1&oref=slogin

*sigh* I feel like Charlie Brown. Get your hopes up, Lucy yanks the ball away again. Get the kite up, get it in the tree. *bangs head against tree*

What. the. fuck.

Grrr...

I! am in a good mood.

Finally.

And I don't mean, things are better, because they're not. But I am HAPPY.

What did it take? A babysitting job. Well, "babysitting." She was already in bed, so I wached TMC. Yeah, classic movies. My weakness. Like kryptonite. I was raised on them... and I know for a fact they're a good chunk of why I am the way I am. I watched the end of a movie with Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire (I think) and it made me want to get up and dance and sing... and take tap again... but not that modern crap, ugh. Lol. =) Seriously, Fred Astaire is my hero.

Anyway. Classic musicals... I just... yeah. That's me. That's what I like, that's what I want, that's how I live. It just is.

And then I watched part of a documentary on Stanley Donen, who did the direction and some dancing and did lighting stuff for whatever movie I watched, plus On the Town, and Singin' in the Rain, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (haven't seen it, but loved performing it), along with many others.

So. Fred Astaire, Stanley Donen, a toast. With lime jello. Because that's what I ate right now since I couldn't get ice cream downstairs to celebrate how hyper I am again. I was happy, and I was loopy, and I was starting to get that almost-drunk quality that Captain Jack Sparrow has that I realized I'd picked up after I saw the second movie. That or it was always a part of me, AND OH MY GOD I NEED TO GO BUY THE SPECIAL EDITION DVD... BONUS EXTRAS, WHIMPER WHIMPER...

Anyway, linkspam.

A good post about believing in God, of sorts. It's incomplete but I read most of it (tired, sorry, it's been hell lately), and I agree with what I did read. If I missed something major, you might want to let me know. http://infinidimincorp.livejournal.com/94573.html

So people over on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes were talking about huntsmen spiders today, which are apparently large, flat spiders that live in Australia that come in under the door or whatnot and hide around the house. They can be as large as wall clocks, and are difficult to kill. And ew. So, being metaquotes, someone mentioned that they'd seen an ice spider larva (Antarctica, thank god) burst out of a penguin's body and spit acid out. So I had to see these ice spiders. TWO AND A FUCKING HALF FEET LARGE. EW EW EW EW EW EW thankgodtheyliveinthedeepcoldwaters. So the first link: http://www.auburn.edu/academic/science_math/cosam/research/antarctica/2006/journal/6/11/index.php and the second: http://scilib.ucsd.edu/sio/nsf/fguide/arthropoda-2.html ew ew ew ew

Robin Sparkles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mJAsgIIfNM (yeah... I finally caught up on How I Met Your Mother via YouTube.)

So I ate lime green jello, and rutabaga, and milk to celebrate.

I fucking win. =^n.n^= (And hopefully I'm going to the zoo on Sunday, too! And I think I'm ready for Christmas, too. Hooray!)

[EDIT] Plus... Jimmy Buffett's birthday is on Christmas, someone just reminded me today. =)

I am SO. FREAKING. MYSELF. =^n.n^=

Finally.

And I don't mean, things are better, because they're not. But I am HAPPY.

Gotst a veritable SHITLOAD of linkspammation for you, so I shall have at it.

First, the results of an old halloween meme. Very entertaining, and a lot of these people don't even touch on LJ anymore. You really can skip this part, I just thought it was funny. )

Urrgh! Coding. Anyway, back to my pile:

Quite possibly one of the best poems about cats I've ever read. Haikus are not meant to be this entertaing, and yet so true. http://community.livejournal.com/black_is_pink/123253.html

OK, no link for this truly. According to [livejournal.com profile] dci_fan_room, Cavvies are doing a Billy Joel show. Seriously? I'm actually kind of afraid of this one. They did a chop-up show of Bond, and the Chicago one was just weird.

A link from a fellow LJ-er: This is actually a really great site. I'm addicted now... You put in songs and artists you like, and it comes up with other suggestions. http://www.pandora.com/

Are you ready for CHRISTMAS MUSIC?! Well, here is some. Hooray, friendage! http://christmasongs.livejournal.com/

Adorable Christmas icons, numero uno: http://community.livejournal.com/fangorn_icons/2860.html#cutid1

Adorable Christmas icons, part dos, with some Thanksgiving thrown in: http://community.livejournal.com/bisty_icons/9022.html#cutid1

Ahahahaha, death by frying pan: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/cumbria/6157611.stm

In case you're big on Secret Santa projects going down without a single hitch: http://www.secretsanta.com/

This? Is really funny. http://www.atomfilms.com/contentPlay/shockwave.jsp?id=animator_vs_animation_2&preplay=1

So...yeah. This next link could be a problem. It's a collection of pictures of adorable, cute little animals! Shit, shit, shit. And the money goes to forests and stuff... But I mean, it's not a far cry from Pokemon... man, I sound so pathetic, lol. But COME ON! ADORABLE ANIMALS! I will just have to wait until it fails and they are being sold 200 for $1 on Ebay. *sigh* My turtles, you shall have to wait... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5xEh7akooE and here's the official site: http://xekogame.com/

Yup, I think that's it. I abologize for not being all sparkly with my HTML and cleaning up the links, but I like to have them for reference in case the sites ever go down, such as my Thanksgiving special blogs. A lot of those links are gone.

Holy SHIT. Some people are fucking MESSED. UP.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=412195&in_page_id=17

I mean, just...WHA? The packaging shows girls in bikinis. With boobs. HELLO. You're advertising to SIX YEAR OLDS. WHAT THE HELL KIND OF MESSED UP FUCK-CRACK ARE YOU ON? (Ew, ew, this reeks of child porn and chauvinism. I am going to forget this ASAP.)

By the way, Daniel Craig is FUCKING AWESOME. I read a few magazine articles about the new Bond movie online, and he curses like a fucking sailor. It's hilarious! Plus when he found out he got the role, he was shopping in a food-mart-ish place, and dropped what he was doing to just go make a martini.

Oh, and he was a bad guy in The Power of One, aka the movie that defined a good chunk of my high school oddity, cred to Weebl and K-dawg for Da Chicken and all ensuing nonsense.

And he's going to be in His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass, which I never read but comes highly recommended, so I need to get my fingers on that before I see it. I'm a big believer in reading stuff before you see the movies.

Also, they are moving on from Narnia to make Prince Caspian. FUCK, JUST GO RUIN THE WHOLE GODDAMN SERIES FOR ME, Jesus Christ. I still absoluately refuse to see that movie.

And the photos of Bellatrix Lestrange? Yeah. Bad character design, IMO. Then again, I don't like a LOT of the design of the movies. Too childish or something. So... not a big fan of the movies, and the books are pretty much ruined for me, reading-wise, which is exactly WHY I refuse to see Narnia. I love it too much. Waaaaay too much.

Also, I think I'm going to ask for the My Chemical Romance: Welcome to the Black Parade CD for Christmas because the songs sound AMAZING. Influences by Queen, amongst other AWESOME bands, and the title song kicks ass, plus it's about a marching band. =P w00t. I am so un-emo.

Can I start my own niche-market/stereotype for that? I don't even know what defines it. It's like being borderline-emo and then doing a complete 180 and showing people you're just off your rocker, period. =P And that's me.

Reminds me of a good Jimmy Buffet quote (from "Simply Complicated"): "It's alright to be crazy, just don't let it drive you nuts."

And also, I added a hilarious Domer-quote to my facebook profile. If you know anything about drumline, this is hilarious:

I was on the phone with Domer discussing camp stuff, and Chris was in the background doing who-the-fuck-knows-what. All of a sudden I hear this noise, and I know what it is, it's Chris doing line stuff, you know, talking drum-ese. I tend to do that, too, just having been in winter and knowing patters, but never bass splits. But Chris having been on the line with MattE and Domer was completely another situation, they added their own splits and Sou didn't even notice until finals.

So I hear him doing this in the background (resumably Bluecoats' splits of some sort), and just to confirm, I asked Domer, "What is he doing?"

"He's doing bass splits, but he sounds like a Wookie."

I DIED.

DIED, I TELL YOU.

Then a few seconds later something along the lines of "SHUT UP, Chewie." Yeah. Star Wars + Band Geek = Ultimate Nerd jokes FTW. ;P
