regarding my journaling voice--

then again, I usually channel a bit of the voice of whatever I've been involved in (somewhat deeply) most recently. Which I'd say more of late has been internet-y type stuff like the normal LJ, some tumblr, a small tish of reddit. And of course memes abound, and I've noticed since 2008 that my writing has taken on a lot more meme style, which I'd say is what I sort of equate to the Archer style I mentioned, except that also has a lot of intentionally over-the-top emotion. Which I'd say is more a drum corps thing for me? But that's become a part of me, since 2007 and definitely reinforced since 2009.

It usually only happens when I get very involved in something-- like when I read all the Hitchhiker's Guide books, my voice took on a bit of Adams. (Not recently, I think pre-my-regular-blogging-days.) More recently when I watched a bunch of Sherlock, or Firefly. A lot of stuff that happened in the past that's become a part of my natural vocabulary that I can't avoid and sometimes completely forget about-- Homestar Runner, Ace Ventura and winter percussion jokes, all the random Doctor Evil things that slip in there.

An aside, I also find it interesting that the voice I write with is not often the voice I speak with. I am much more quiet in person (when I am not comfortable enough to be loud), and a lot of things I self-censor out of habit. Then again, I've noticed myself slipping more here and there, for example, the fact that my parents don't seem to be too upset about an f-bomb here or there, although I still cut back a lot from my daily usage. (We all have Cee Lo Green to thank for the progress on that front.) And some things are such an accident that they take me by surprise, which I can only attribute to my theory on aging; which is that I am very perceptive to age and relative positions of authority, and it's so much ingrained that I am nearly six years out of high school and friends with old teachers whom I cannot call by their first names, or at least, it still feels uncomfortable to do so. It's detrimental in that I assume people in classes above me (and usually my own grade level) are all older than me, and in grades below, younger. Although in the past few years I've realized classes below me are often my own age, and in odd situations like my age-out year, I'm actually the oldest. That was a weird but ultimately freeing experience. BUT! Back to my point-- sometimes something is ingrained enough in my internal monologue voice that it slips into the everyday regardless of my social position, which I attribute to two things: 1) my continued blogging and internetting for so many years and the development and strengthening of that voice, which I am proud of, and 2) as I've come into more experiences where I am older or more knowledgeable I've gained confidence in my own abilities (like working the holiday job? Very yes) and let down my guard somewhat, in regards to social situations. Which is good in that I am happier, more confident in myself, and put more trust in my skills. But the down side is that I'm also more risky, more likely to slip up-- like the fact that I apparently scare my classmates with all my swearing (although they seem more entertained than actually offended, I just don't want to cause any actual problems).

Blaaaaaaaaargh. Wow, it's been a busy week. To sum up how mentally exhausted I've been: I had a super-stressful test this morning and it didn't go too badly, so I just told myself since I've been so busy with Hopewalk that I just needed to forget about it, since I had nothing to do in my other two classes for the rest of the day (had tests in those Wednesday)... To the extent that I did. I saw one of my friends at lunch and I was like "Hey! So how'd that test go yesterday?" and she just looked at me. "Diane... That was this morning."

OMG IT WAS. Damn... Next week's only going to be WORSE, too! Ugh, yay.

And you know how busy I've been not getting my fill of (important) news? I missed the fact that EOIN COLFER IS WRITING A NEW HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE BOOK.

NO.

I don't care if Adams' widow asked him to write it (which, by the way, I and everyone I've talked about Artemis Fowl [for the record, I love those books] with thought Colfer was a girl. SO YEAH, ABOUT THAT). Hitchhiker's Guide is pretty much all about Adams' completely bizarre sense of humor. I don't care if it's a decent book! THAT IS NOT THE POINT, I'm sure it's not going to be horrendous. (Well, it could be.) I can't decide what's worse, a decent book that a good amount of people would buy, or a terrible one that no one wants but is still kind of a black mark on Adams' collection. I don't know, I just hate sequels written by the not-original authors/writers.

And yes, come bitch to me about how Adams was rewriting his last book anyway! I KNOW. (P.S., Salmon of Doubt was already the next book even though Dirk Gently was in it.)

Just UUUUUUUGH. Hitchhiker's Guide is one of those things where it's just very very awesome and the fandom is by far NOT CRAZY. And I feel like this is just all around baaaaaad neeeews. Godfuckingdamnit.

I think I'm going to have to not buy it, even if it's not bad. It's a matter of Adams' perspective versus other peoples', and I swear to god if this book even gets some lovey-dovey crappy ending with some real moral or something then NO. Adams wrote a bit happier ending for the movie to make up for the ending of the last book (by which I mean the fifth complete one, not Salmon of Doubt), but it was not moralistic or any crap like that. Which honestly really would be the worst worst thing that would happen I think.

But even so, my original thoughts stand and it's good to see other people agree with me and had the same inital thought; if anyone should do it, it should be Neil Gaiman (did you read American Gods yet? seriously), and he's both too busy and too respectful and maybe a little too dark for the part. WHICH I RESPECT AND ADMIRE HIM FOR.

PLEASE NO, EOIN COLFER

Arrrrgh.

So in other news! Southwind's not fielding next year and I now have really *no idea* where to go. Here's my thoughts, and the problem is they're all about balanced in terms of pros and cons. Auuurrrrgghhh.

Troopers: Pros- fun, not stuck up, have a good rep; Cons- flying out to Wyoming once a month, might have an immature group like Southwind was and they were as well.

Crown: Pros- love their music, they're doing really well, and they're really entertaining; Cons- hate their visuals, they might be a stuck-up crowd like PR was.

Glassmen: Pros- local, enjoyable shows; Cons- Carl marched there and might again if he doesn't make Cavvies, Sou taught there for like a month and Sheski made 2nd (and Westy auditioned and didn't make it), I'm not sold on their visuals.

Bluecoats: Pros- good visuals, good music, badass unis; Cons- rep for rowdy behavior, ugly helmets, potential for voice-over.

Vanguard: Pros- good music, good visuals; Cons- flying out to Cali once a month, Sou was a wannabe fanboy for them, and I probably wouldn't even make their junior corps.

Blue Stars: Pros- ...They're from Indianapolis?; Cons- Caleb is a douche, their visuals suck, and so do their uniforms (despite new shoes/pants, oops!).

Yeah, so... literally no idea what I want to do. It's just frustrating all around, blech. And I need to decide *soon*. The ideal thing would be that Madison Scouts would decide to do another Carmen-like show and need a girl to play brass and I would be RIGHT THERE. (Although as long as they let me do the whole show, I didn't really like that they had Carmen only do the middle part. I mean, I know, story-wise, she shows up late for dramatic effect and then dies, but I could not just spend 2/3 of my time not working at a show.) But PFFT like that would fucking happen.

Also, what happens if I decide I like it where I am and Southwind comes back the year after? Yeah. FUCK ALL OF THIS. Why couldn't people appreciate SW for what it was more? I fucking hate all the bandos who are like "OMG I EFFING LOVE CAVVIES" no you don't. Fuck off.

God, I have like a million things I need to post about because I've been so damn busy. BUT tomorrow is the "WTF are you wearing?!" party and I am SO FUCKING PSYCHED because it means I get to whip out THE GAUNTLETS. Oh yes.

And my bowler. I AM SO PSYCHED! (I would let Candice wear my bowler because I trust her with it, and then me wear my fed, but I do not trust anybody at that party to not mess up my fed EVEN IF I'M WEARING IT. Sorry, not doing that to my super-most-prized possession.)

...I need to go find uke tabs for 1000 Miles because it would be fuuuuun. I think I might start keeping track of my uke tabs for songs I know on here just for my own reference and in case the site I use (mostly Ukulele Boogaloo) goes down, as it hasn't been updated in over a year.

[EDIT] According to Yahoo's article, Colfer has been writing this in his head for a while and then got Adams' widow's blessing to do it. SO I'M JUST GOING TO SAY ALL-OUT NO, MM-KAY?

the article because Yahoo likes to delete them )

[EDIT2] OMG THE NEW JAMES BOND THEME. PRETTY FUCKIN' BADASS

(Listen to it here around 55 minutes in; hard to believe this is the first duet in all these themes.)

A little weirder than I like, but it's got its awesome bits, namely the piano lick and the brass bits. :D Still think I like You Know My Name much better though. So it's... average. Not great, not awful, not gonna stick in my head though...

[EDIT3] I've been way too fucking busy this week/month to make much of an effort for Talk Like a Pirate Day, but I did go to Skyline. Happy Friday! (Also, I'm kind of a Heathen... which won't make sense to anyone on m f-list I don't think... It's a rather large and complicated inside joke.) But my dad did text me "Yarr!" this morning right after seven. Oh dad, I love you, you are so silly. He and I have very similar senses of humor and I love it.

Apparently Vertigo takes place in 1957. [NOW YOU KNOW]

Ugh, I have a huge backlog of crap to go through. Stuff I've been meaning to post for the past... week... or so...

Drum corps show was Tuesday! Oh YEAHZ =) Pretty much all people I'd seen minus Cincinatti Tradition and Music City Legend, who I didn't see anyway because Taylor and his friend and I ended up selling programs. Unfortunately, I think SW only about broke even, which is a bunch of CRAP because they didn't get ANY funding from DCI. And Scouts? Damn, they got $15,000 to set up their show and pay the corps. Bull. Shit. God I hate DCI politics, it's worse than regular politics because I actually give a huge damn. *sigh* I really hope SW can field next year, I don't know what I'm going to do if they don't. I mean, probably go to Carolina Crown, but I hate their horn visuals and I don't know if I'd make the cut because I suuuuuck at audition solos... or solos period. BUT I did get to see Melissa and Taylor and Yeti and Justin and DayDay and Kyle, so that's all YAY! And Mike and Adrian and Barb... =)

Gotta try to get that webcomic actually started... I had some more good ideas today, so the well's not compeltely dry like I thought it might have been, which is a good sign. Now to get off my lazy ass...

Eh, I have a pile of notes to go through and post from this past week, but I think I'll just give up for now. So... have a happy fourth of July =)

[EDIT] Oh, also, not that any of you would care, but my mouth pH must be off or something. For the past two weeks any aftertaste I have turns into this gross kind of after-dairy taste, but it stays there. AND IT WON'T GO AWAY. It's driving me insane! I've been brushing my teeth like crazy, my tongue, drinking water, eating onions... Geez. It better go away freaking soon, or I will just rip out my tongue to avoid the tastebuds. Bleeeech.

Because I'm exhausted, the super-brief summary:

--BK... not bad... for BK. Which still means "not interesting".
--Blue Stars... they're pretty good, I guess. Nothing special I noticed, other than having better pants and shoes and being pretty clean compared to last year, but they're still terribly dirty. =S
--Cadets: WHAT. That is not drum corps. (NPR, really? And this narration has what to do with your music/drill? FAIL.)

Scouts were pretty good, uniforms confirmed as awesome. ;) The beginning and ending music is nothing special I noticed (I like the middle song, though), but they still have to add their ending, sooo, we'll see. (I don't think they deserved 12th, though, they were a million times cleaner than Blue Stars.)

Troopers?! AWESOOOOOOME. Had a good pulse and great music. Yay!

Bluecoats... Nothing special. Still good. Same goes for Crossmen. (Unless Coats add narration. BLECH)

Overall... much better than last year on average, but Cadets about a million times worse.

Know what, though? My favorite this year: CAROLINA CROWN! They blew me away. Oooooooohhhhh yeeeeeeeeeeah. And I even decided that before they started playing 1812! OMG. <3.

I miss SW though!!!!

Well, whatdyouknow! 2/3 pulpy OJ + 1/3 Dr. Pepper is COMPLETELY TOLERABLE. YAY makes Indy drinks tolerable but boo, that's a LOT of calories/sugar. Tastes pretty much like KoolAid + Sprite, though. (Looks pretty digusting, haha.)

In other news, HAPPY TOWEL DAY! =) I have my towel from last summer out, I looked at the tag and it turns out it's Taylor's. OH MAN, I'm kind of missing corps, but I'm glad to hang out with everyone!

Hey so who else watched the Indy 500? It's not my thing but car 26 (Marco Andretti) was an INDIANA JONES CAR <3 And his suit was awesome, too, it was printed to that it looked like a shirt/leather jacket/pants with gun (holster) and whip.

Anyone catch his placement?

Yeah, I think I missed yesterday, I guess I'll just have to make up for it all tomorrow. I'm just not in the mood to blog today. I'm in a very artsy mood, wishing I had an art tablet and a good art program (which, I know, there's free stuff out there but my computer is already WAAAAY too slow).

Meh. I got excited because this morning I thought today was towel day, and I was sad I didn't have a towel. But it's apparently not until May 25th? But that doesn't sound right because I know towel day my junior year wasn't the last week of school, at least I'm pretty darn sure it wasn't. I think it was regular class, not exams.

Anyway, it also made me miss Southwind because of, one, the towel, and also people are posting on facebook where they're going to be marching... =/ But I had a great idea for a shirt! I don't think they could ever sell it, but I think because of our brass bus joke last year I'm going to have to make a shirt that says "SOUTH WIND" in the Star Wars font. I mean SW right? (Yeah, that's what I get for watching Star Wars, I guess... lol Imperial March) =D

Anyway. So Ep. I/II... not as bad as I remembered. In that, I didn't remember anything, just that they were bad. And honestly, the plot of the first one kind of sucks. The second one, not so bad. The third, the writing sucks. But I will say that they all have damn fine costumes and sets. I watched Ep. II tonight, and just the one scene where Obi Wan and Anakin are standing watch outside Amidala's room, and it's not even heavily decorated or in any way an entirely spectacular scene. But I looked at it and I thought, geez, right there on that tiny set, with two people, is $600-$1000 worth of boots. That's two pairs of boots. Guh. Which led me to think about the discussion I was reading yesterday of Trek vs. Wars, in that the SW universe is inherently a war-based universe, so they would win, but that just got me thinking on a different article I'd read of the epic scale of it all that causes so many faults like how to they get rid of heat energy without dying and where does all the waste go and where do all the resources come from?!?!?! *cough* But I digress (slightly). The point is, everything about Star Wars is just plain old epic. Huge sets, big detailed costumes, and not to mention the industry itself is, like, millions of dollars. Geez.

But yeah, a planet that's just one big city? Wtf? Where do they get ANY sort of resources? And the cloning planet... is it perpetually stormy? Is that a sea planet? Where the heck do THEY get enough resources to run an oversized genetics lab?!

...Nobody answer that.

I really don't need to know.

Also, Prof. Bailey going "assimilate! assimilate! metaphor for America you know" is one of the most hilarious things ever. His band story made me sad though =(

39 days! That's craziness! Almost forgot to post here because I was busy reading lots of stuff. Today's trivia, which I meant to post over Spring Break when we were on Kauai; Hawaii does not have snakes. (Did I post this already?) Yeah. So. Later when I was thinking about blogging it I was kind of like "heh, Indiana Jones should move here." I know I'm so clever.

However, I learned some more today. I guess Hawaii is just isolated from a lot, because basically all the diseases brought in is what killed the natives (which I knew), BUT, Hawaii does not have RABIES either.

So that whole like first month when I was too sad and nervous to pet the kitties? WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE, ALL KITTIES HERE ARE CLEAN (so to speak).

Yeah, so.

[EDIT] FUCK, I just forgot what I was going to post in light of SOUTHWIND ALUMNI FOURTH OF JULY PARADE FUCK YEEAAAAAHHHHH! Know where I'll be July 4th.

[EDIT2] Oh, remembered the other thing. Apparently everyone associates computers with studying, though that is rarely what I'm doing on my computer. In the past year, I've gotten SO many comments on how I'm always studying, but, haha, yeah right, I'm a procrastinator. I just think it's intersting because my facebook vite-thing whatever my rank went up NINE places in "more studious". Wtf?

LOL. 20x"fuck", 9x"crap", 5x"shit", 4x"hell", 3x"puke", 2x"murder", 1x"drugs"

WHAT

Oh geez.

Anyway... The internet has been totally crapping out on my today, I couldn't do anything. =( I watched the first half of Lawrence of Arabia, which is a pretty good movie, even though I was only watching it so I could go "OMG SPAIN I'VE BEEN THERE LOLNABOO" and hoping it would give off vague Indy feelings because I AM DESPERATE FOR SOME ADVENTURE MOVIE HERE, FOLKS. What am I going to do? I watched all three Indys, I watched Tomb Raider, and Tomb Raider II sucks ass (but is now no longer in the library anyhow), and apparently nobody wants to watch The Mummy Returns, and I'm pretty sure by now that the library just doesn't have The Mummy (what). Also, no V for Vendetta, or, like, ANYTHING I WANT TO WATCH. Which I think I've run out of anyhow. So... suggestions? If you were on an AKSHUN ADVENCHUH binge, what would you watch?

Okay, all you peeps tell me posts are too long. Well poopy on you, I like to talk at a faceless audience. Let's agree it's better than talking your ear off, y/y? In general I'm a pretty quiet person and I like to keep track of what my thoughts are. So if you don't want to read them fine, but I do like to know when you have interest. =(

So, in the essence of keeping EPIC POSTS to a minimum, I'm going to add a little from the "I forgot to post this!" month's worth of back-up into daily posts. kk? kk. (Man, my internal narration is stuck on sugary neko idiocy or something. LULZ INTELLIGENT LOLCATS AUGH) Riiiight... So.

In the essence of clearing out my HUMONGOUS backlog of notes from my cellular device, here are some things I've been meaning to post:

WHAT IS WITH MY LIFE AND FLAMING GUYS WHO LOOK LIKE JMAC. Other than Jacob himself, I have now met TWO FLAMINGLY GAY MEN who look like him. My life is like the Twlight Zone of evil twins. (Who, you ask? One of them was from Southwind, which is like the black hole of the Twilight Zone. I have met more lookalikes there than anywhere else in my entire life. The other one was here at Chaminade, he helped with orientation stuff. I don't know if he's gay but he sure as hell was flaming.)

I have some completely indecipherable notes, too. Such as, January 18, 8:01 pm: "Slushies paranoia tan". Obviously I was trying to remind/focus on three different topics, but what the hell? Perhaps I was celebrating the fact that the 7/11 down the street has MOUNTAIN DEW SLUSHIES! =D And also Sierra Mist Holiday Hawk slushies, I don't remember what that flavor was, Cranberry Splash or something? Anyhoom.

Damnit, I don't want to do this right now. Fine, fine, fine. Tomorrow, I'm going to EPIC POST and if I don't you can harass me until I do so I quit talking about it and post something for my parents to read.

Also, I am super excited for my hat to come. It cannot come soon enough and I'm hoping to death it comes in time for IJ4, but that would be seriously pushing it. BLAWRAUGH. (wtf?)

92 days until Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! Today's trivia: I think it would have been better off named Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods, which was the rumored title. That's not exactly trivia, is it, though? I dunno, do you guys want some pictures or anything? Hmm. How about some personal trivia? The only SINGLE fanfic I ever wrote (and finished about one chapter of, grand total) was Indiana Jones. This was many years ago, when I first discovered Indiana Jones and the wonderousness of the internet to include places like fanfiction.net which had not only Indiana Jones, but marching band stories! However, I quickly learned not to touch fanfic with a two hundred foot pole. That place is... euch. Puke-inducing. Not only that, but I realized reading fanfic and everything often fucked up my perception of the actual characters for a good long time. SO, I swore it off and the only stuff I read anymore is the marching band stuff (there's nothing to ruin there, and somehow it DOESN'T get real nasty because it's based in real life... I mean wtf, inorite?! It's marching band, it's supposed to be terribly perverted. Obviously this displays my beliefs that bandies, though they make the sickest in-jokes, also are very mature. Okay, scratch that. Know WHEN maturity is needed. ANYWAY TANGENT) and my friend's stuff (which is all Indiana Jones because believe it or not it's a much more mature fabase... but I can see that changing already *sadface*), and my friends update about once in a gajillion years, so that's not a huge problem.

Anyway, my original point was the single chapter I ever wrote; I got a good start and then I just had nowhere to take the plot. Anyway, you're probably asking me why the hell am I telling you this? Because I am so awesome that Indy went to the Mayan pyramids and Marion came back. YES THAT'S RIGHT. That's just a hint of why I'm so excited for this movie. However, I went with Nazis (because it wasn't 1957) and they were going after a completely made-up cult based ridiculously on English fairy folklore and Jewish History classes and my own imagination. (Oh yes.)

So, I am very proud/excited for this movie. I am also pretty sure that I'm going to keep that stuff buried forever because I really don't like fanfic. Not that I'm saying everyone should, I just tend to only read the good stuff, and I forget which the real characterization is. Kind of like why I don't really like the Harry Potter movies and I refuse to see the Chronicles of Narnia movies.

Um, and if you don't think that's a fair fact, be sure to tell me and I can oh what the heck here's another one for free. It's "legitimate", too! The guy in Raiders who has an eye patch and rides a motorcycle and has the monkey is also the guy at the beginning with the weird hat who gets shot with darts. (Not character-wise, I mean, the actor.) w000000t

Also, I think it would be hilarious if there were some meme-defense to Godwin's Law that was some sort of reverse Godwin's Law where YOU SAID NAZIS, NOW THERE MUST BE INDIANA JONES.

Yeah... I'm probably crazy.

So yesterday night I had this dream where I was in warmup with Southwind. We were in a really warm place and it was the whole brassline but it was a really small group of people. And it wasn't this summer, because there were some newbies, who were really annoying smartasses like Mickley was, except that all the ageouts from this summer were there, too. So anyway we were in rehearsal and this kid kept mouthing off, and we all sort of rolled our eyes. (Now that I think about it we were in a reverse arc, too. Weird.) And then Ivan showed up to teach us visuals, except that we didn't do any visual rehearsal. For some reason our trumpet tech from this summer was sort of teaching visuals on the side as well? And so for some reason we were getting ready to go on straight from that field and they handed us these blue tops with black pants and I guess we were supposed to put on these black pants. So for some reason I went off and ran to the bathroom to change (what?) and as I came out the hornline was in a block passing and Ox ran out of the guy's bathroom too so we just fell in line behind the block, and grandma and Barb and other people were standing by watching us. (The bathrooms were in this little breezeway entrance to the field which must have been in a hil or something... sort of like PA or AZ?) Anyway, then Ox and I realized that our uniforms were blue (which through the whole dream I was thinking "Blue for Bluecoats, but these aren't really the Bluecoats'" and then when I wa talking to my dad yesterday he mentioned Spirit of Atlanta, and yeah they were Spirit's unis from last summer. The baby blue ones with the (black?) sequin panel, only these had light blue sequins on the panel for some reason. ANYWAY.) but everyone else had the regular yellow SW unis on! Which I had to have a sort of double-take because Southwind wasn't fielding this year? And I thought maybe Bluecoats(/Spirit) was funding us but they wouldn't have let us wear our colors because we'd have to march for them as a junior corps...? So I started sort of freaking because I'm not the fastest uniform changer, so I ran back to the bus and grabbed my yellow jacket thinking they'd given us their old unis to wear the black pants, so I just took off the jacket. Then I realized that the yellow coat had my pants from this summer which fit me so well so I said "I guess not, that's sort of weird" and went ahead and changed into it and ran to catch back up. And I remember wondering if the visuals that Wilson had taught us were going to be in tonight, and for some relation to the show they were these GIGANTIC plastic dollar-store flip-phones. It was as big as my head! Anyway.

Huh, I remember before that dream I had a dream I was on a campus that was sort of UD's, but not really, and I was inside the KL-building except it was new and shiny and reminded me of the Indy mall, but whiter in design. (You could see all the way up to the top level where there was a glass roof, I think.) And I was back in high shool, sort of, and the whole building was kind of like walking around Carroll. So it was religion class time or volunteer time or something and I had run off to see these presenters and see if they needed help. They were in a room right off the atrium that had lots of windows and only one fully white wall, so I guess that people in the atrium could watch a class going on. So anyway I had skipped checking in with my teacher/prof and went straight here, and for some reason I was sort of in my SW uni and sort of in my SW corps jacket? And it was two guys from Santa Clara Vanguard giving the presentation. And so I was behind their table helping but they didn't really notice that I marched because for some reason my SW stuff was sort of invisible to them or something, and then my class came in and got bored after a few minutes so they left and I helped the guys bring all their stuff out to their truck down a back hallway (it sort of reminded me where we ate lunch down in Fairfield HS this summer).

Yeah, so I don't know why I had two dreams (though the latter written came first) about corps so much, I didn't have anything to do with corps the day beforehand, but usually I can figure out which parts of my dreams were just my brain processing which parts of my day.

And then last night I had a weird dream where a whole bunch of my schoolmates from St. Brigid were at this... hotel... except it was right next to the lake in Shawnee Park, sort of, and we were hsoting some sort of event. And we were all running back and forth between the table by the lake and our rooms sharing food and everything, and people wanted veggies (Ryan said something) so I told him my mom had made her broccoli-coleslaw-with-ramen-crunchies (because he wouldn't have known if I'd called it Wright Wride Salad) salad, and I opened this silvery pretzel-bag (like the ones that pretzel puzzle came in) and showed him the salad, which he didn't want, and I noticed it had tiny blueberries in it, too. (And I remember saying, "oh, there are blueberries in it.") And I remember they tasted surprisingly really good, but IRL I don't think they would at all. Anyway, so we're running back and forth and there was a lot of discussion over foods that I can't remember, but it came time for some festival which started by the school-style pool the hotel owned. So we went down there and were discussing this festival and how it was celebrated out in the country or something and then these guys ran off with really expensive jewelry we owned? Or something. And I told everyone they'd stolen my grandma's wedding ring and I chased after the guy, and I chased him out through the side turning-door and into the balcony-garden, where he sort of fell over a bush and gave up, sort of on purpose, and it really made me wonder why they were giving up. (Did they want a fight?) So I snatched the box and the ring from him (which looked really weird--the stone was two levels and very boxy) and sniped at him and then went back inside and asked Grandma if one ring had been hers, the boxy-stoned one, and it wasn't, and then inside the box was the real ring. And then after a while I had woken up and went back to sleep or whatnot and corps people were back in this weird park/facilities/campus place and we were sort of waiting to leave...? And Wilson was there again, and I said hi in passing or something, and I know there was more but I just can't remember it.

Man. I am trying to get better at remembering to write down all my dreams because I don't think I did it once all semester and I know I had lots of good ones and that makes me sad. ='(

I still have ones from this summer to write down, even! Need to do those.

I am really sad though, there's apparently some thing with Marcus theaters not playing Sweeney Todd? So I would have to drive to Newport to see it. =( And it's the next Paramount flick and they didn't release the trailer with I am Legend, and I REALLY think AND hope it's coming out with National Treasure (which I am seeing Thursday at 11:59 pm) because that's the right audience even though it's a Disney flick, I mean Disney owns Paramount so, honestly?! Argh. And I'm sad Paramount no longer owns Kings Island. Then there will be no Indiana Jones ride like was rumored, I will just have to keep riding Adventure Express though they won't play the music anymore--='( -- and Tomb Raider which what will they call it?! Argh.

So if the Indy IV trailer comes out with Sweeney Todd I'm going to be angry. If it doesn't come out with either Sweeney Todd OR National Treasure I think I'm going to flip my lid. Seriously The Dark Knight has their trailer out and they're seven months away! I understand Lucas and Spielberg want it to be a big secret but YOU'RE KILLING ME HERE. And you put the poster out this week and it looks so good so PLEASE!!!!! Grr.

And also, what do you think would be a good gift idea for my sister? She works at Hollister so she buys all the clothes she wants, and she didn't have any movies or CDs she wanted. I was thinking maybe a "boyfriend gift basket" since she and James have been going out more steadily and they rent movies a lot, so I'd put maybe Hollywood gift certificates and popcorn and some candy in it. But I don't know what she'd like! And I don't know if she'd think that was lame, or if she'd want something just for her rather than her AND James. =/ And my mom was telling me that Aunt Dawn told her that James had a crush on her for the longest time which I think is HILARIOUS because we've known the Butlers for almost as long as Max and Kyle have. Just one of those weird things about life, I guess.

Of course the time when I decide to do NaNoWriMo would be the time my computer decides that the hard drive is ready to fail. I'm hoping it's just a "Office 2007 sucks and fucked up everything" error, but that I don't lose any of my OneNote data that's pretending to be corrupted right now. Come back OneNote, I LUUURVE YOOU!

And also, Southwind just had to choose November 10th for the banquet ANYHOW, so now I will have to leave Phi Rho retreat early and if I can't (b/c it's initiation) I'll have to MISS IT. And also I have to finish all the ambigrams! Gah!

Plus the SW board wants t-shirt ideas ASAP. As in, today. Or tomorrow. So they can start fundraising. GAH.

Aaaaand it looks like my annual canker sore is back. Actually this is probably the first time it qualifies as "annual," but I got one last year in the winter, too. And this time the problem isn't citric acid, which causes even more of a problem because I'm not eating enough veggies.

OK, just so this post doesn't sound like I'm complaining about life but more like informing you all what's going on (which is what I intended but YAY STRESS) I also decided to forego searching for an internship with a construction company or something relative to my major, or hunting down a job with JPI Design or Cost of Wisconsin or Disney, which really ticks me off, but I just don't have time, and I'm exhausted, and I also feel it wouldn't be fair to my boss here who said that he hired me because I'm local so I could work summers, but since I want to march I can't, and this would be the only summer I could. So I am. Next summer I will not be in Florida, or California, or Wisconsin, but in Dayton, hopefully just working and destressing, and maybe getting some classes out of the way. And doing art, because I have soooo many projects on my to-do list right now.

Also I am totally pissed that I am so busy because I really can't celebrate Halloween. Two sort-of-fun parties this weekend but no party on the day of (TWO FUCKING TESTS ARGH) and no movies and I haven't had time to put up decorations, just put a Halloween Mix together. Which I haven't even listened to much and won't be able to use for a mini-party because there won't be one. I have, however, been wearing my silver skull ring that I got for Christmas last year (sort of a Day of the Dead style) and it is both very Pirate-y and Victorian and I plan to continue to wear it, no matter how much other people look at me weirdly. It's unique and I think it looks very distinguished because it is sterling silver and rather large. Hee.

The only good news as of late is that

1) November 4th we gain an hour! Hopefully of sleep and not of homework, but you know how that works out.

2) Indiana Jones IV principal photography wrapped up a couple of days ago! HOORAY! I really, really can't wait for Beowulf to come out... the trailer better fucking be on it.

Also, my steampunk outfits are slooooowly coming together, and I have several new resources and ideas for steampunk gadgetry, which makes me happy.
